Zeichen 277.1, StVO Anlage 2, full name 'Verbot des Überholens von einspurigen Fahrzeugen für mehrspurige Kraftfahrzeuge und Krafträder mit Beiwagen': if you drive a multi-track motor vehicle (or a motorcycle with a sidecar) you may not overtake SINGLE-track vehicles here — bicycles, mopeds, solo motorcycles. In plain English
The newer sign aimed squarely at cyclists' safety — narrow lanes where no car can leave the legal 1.5–2 m gap. Here you may not pass the bicycle either.
