Terms of Service

“Operator” refers to the individual or entity operating GermanDost; operator details are listed in our Impressum. “User” or “you” refers to any person who uses the Service. “Pro” refers to the paid tier that unlocks premium features.

GermanDost is a German-language learning platform with exam preparation, flashcards, games, AI-powered conversation practice, and supplementary life-in-Germany information. The Service is intended for educational and informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for certified language tutoring, legal advice, financial advice, medical advice, or insurance brokerage.

• You are at least 16 years old, or using the Service with verifiable parental consent.
• You provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials secure.
• You do not share your paid account with other users.
• You do not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise extract bulk content from the Service.
• You do not upload or submit unlawful, abusive, hateful, or infringing content through any feature (including AI chat).

You may create an account via email + password or via a supported OAuth provider (e.g., Google). You are responsible for the security of your account. Notify us promptly at support@germandost.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

The Service offers a free tier and a paid “Pro” tier. Pricing is displayed on the Pricing page in local currency (EUR, USD, INR, PKR, BDT) and may include promotional discounts for a limited time.

Payments are processed by regulated third parties: Stripe Payments Europe Ltd. for most regions, Razorpay Software Pvt. Ltd. for India, and JazzCash / TPL Life for Pakistan. Your card and payment data is handled directly by the processor; we never store full card numbers.

Unless otherwise stated, Pro is a one-time lifetime purchase. Billing occurs at checkout; no recurring charges apply to the lifetime plan. Where applicable, prices include or exclude VAT as disclosed at checkout.

Vouchers (e.g., LAUNCH30) may offer percentage or fixed-amount discounts, or free access, and may expire or be limited to one-per-user. Vouchers have no cash value, cannot be combined unless stated, and can be deactivated at any time for abuse. We reserve the right to refuse any voucher redemption that appears fraudulent.

For users in the European Union, you have a statutory 14-day cooling-off period to cancel a purchase of digital content, per §312g BGB and the EU Consumer Rights Directive, EXCEPT where you have explicitly consented to the supply of the content before the cooling-off period ends and acknowledged that your right of withdrawal is lost upon such supply (§356 Abs. 5 BGB). By clicking “Pay” you acknowledge this consent unless you indicate otherwise.

Outside the EU, we honour a best-effort 7-day refund policy for unused access. Refund requests go to support@germandost.com.

All content on the Service — lessons, exercises, exam mock questions, grammar explanations, audio, imagery — is owned by the Operator or licensed from third parties. You receive a limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to access and use the content for personal, non-commercial learning. You may not copy, redistribute, or resell content without written permission.

GermanDost mock exams are original materials modeled on the structure of Goethe-Institut, telc gGmbH, and DTZ exams. We are not affiliated with those institutions. Their trademarks and official questions remain their property.

Any content you submit to the Service (chat messages, writing exercises, feedback, forum posts) remains yours, but you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to store and display it for the purpose of operating the Service. You represent that you have the right to submit such content.

You agree not to: (a) use the Service to violate any law; (b) harass, threaten, or defame other users or staff; (c) attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, server, or system; (d) use automated scripts to pull bulk content; (e) interfere with the Service’s operation.

The Service integrates with third-party services including Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database, auth), Resend (email), Vercel AI Gateway / Anthropic (AI chat), Stripe / Razorpay / JazzCash (payments), and Cloudflare (DNS, edge). Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, except those that cannot be excluded under applicable law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific outcome (e.g., passing an exam or obtaining a visa) will result from its use.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Operator’s liability for direct damages shall be limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. The Operator shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages. The limitation does not apply to damages caused by intent or gross negligence, nor to statutory liability for personal injury or product liability under §309 BGB / §444 BGB.

Immigration, legal, financial, insurance, and tax content is informational only. We do not provide regulated legal advice under the Rechtsdienstleistungsgesetz (RDG), insurance brokerage under §34d GewO, or financial advice under §1 KWG. For individualized advice, consult a licensed Rechtsanwalt, Steuerberater, Versicherungsmakler, or equivalent professional.

Investment, housing, benefits, and admissions tools. Our wealth/investment content and calculators are financial education only — they are illustrative and hypothetical, do not constitute investment advice (Anlageberatung) under the Wertpapierhandelsgesetz (WpHG) or BaFin supervision, and never recommend a specific product. Investing carries risk and your capital is at risk. Housing, benefits, immigration, and university- admissions content is general information whose legal thresholds, fees, and deadlines change frequently and may differ by state, office, nationality, or case; verify with the official authority before acting. Needs-based benefits (Bürgergeld / Grundsicherung, SGB II/XII) can affect your residence permit, permanent residence, and citizenship — decisions about them are yours and your own responsibility. Some outbound links (blocked-account, insurance, broker, remittance, housing partners) are affiliate links from which we may earn a commission; this never changes our neutral comparison rankings, and you should always compare official terms with the provider. We accept no liability for any decision you make based on this content.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Operator from any claims arising out of (a) your breach of these Terms, (b) your misuse of the Service, or (c) your violation of third-party rights, except to the extent caused by the Operator’s gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected.

Exclusive place of jurisdiction for merchants is Berlin, Germany. For consumers, statutory provisions apply.

EU consumers may use the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obligated, nor willing, to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email and/or in-app notice at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
