Überholverbot für Kraftfahrzeuge über 3,5 t — No overtaking for goods vehicles over 3.5 t
Zeichen 277, StVO Anlage 2. Only motor vehicles over 3.5 t permissible mass (including their trailers) and Zugmaschinen are forbidden to overtake — and even there, Personenkraftwagen und Kraftomnibusse sind ausgenommen. Ordinary cars are entirely unaffected. What is forbidden is overtaking multi-track motor vehicles and motorcycles with a sidecar. Verified 2026-08-03.
In plain English
The red vehicle is a LORRY, not a car. That single difference flips who the sign is aimed at — and it is one of the most reliably failed look-alikes in the exam.
What you are looking at
White disc, red rim; a red lorry on the left overtaking a black car on the right.
Remember it like this
Look at the RED vehicle. Red car = the ban is yours. Red lorry = it is not.
Easy to confuse with — the exam exploits these
Verbotszeichen (Prohibition) — you may not. usually a red circle. Checked against StVO Anlage 1–3 on 2026-08-03.
Original practice questions — not the amtlicher Fragenkatalog. Every question, sign description and scenario here is written by us and covers the same StVO rules as the official Klasse B test. We are not TÜV, DEKRA or a Fahrschule, and we do not reproduce the official catalogue. Road signs themselves are amtliche Werke (StVO Anlage 1–3). Rules checked against StVO and FeV on 2026-08-03.
Fines and Punkte are indicative. The amounts shown come from published Bußgeldkatalog tables, not from statute, and are last verified 2026-08-03. The binding figure is the one on your own Bußgeldbescheid.
