Umweltzone (Beginn einer Verkehrsverbotszone) — Low-emission zone begins
Zeichen 270.1, StVO Anlage 2: driving a motor vehicle inside the marked zone is forbidden, except for vehicles carrying the sticker shown on the sign (35. BImSchV). Every German Umweltzone currently requires the green sticker, Schadstoffgruppe 4. Verified 2026-08-03.
In plain English
Most of inner Berlin inside the S-Bahn ring is one. The green Plakette goes on the inside of the windscreen, costs about 5–15 €, and applies to rental and borrowed cars exactly the same.
