Andreaskreuz — St Andrew's cross (level crossing)
Zeichen 201, StVO Anlage 2: you must give rail traffic Vorrang (priority). No parking for up to 5 m before AND after the sign inside a built-up area, or up to 50 m before and after outside one; and no stopping within 10 m in front of it if that would hide it. A black arrow on a Zusatzzeichen means the cross applies only to traffic going that way. Verified 2026-08-03.
In plain English
The red-and-white X standing at the crossing itself. On its own it already means: trains win, no exceptions, no other sign needed.
What you are looking at
Two crossed bars forming an X, red with white centres and white tips. A flattened, wide version (liegendes Andreaskreuz) is used where there is not enough height to mount the upright cross. A lightning arrow in the centre means the line has a live overhead wire.
