Bahnübergang — Level crossing ahead
Zeichen 151, StVO Anlage 1. A railway crosses the road ahead — since the 2013 StVO this one sign covers both gated and ungated crossings (the old Zeichen 150 with the barrier symbol was withdrawn). §19 Abs. 1 StVO requires you to approach at moderate speed, and from this sign on you may not overtake motor vehicles until you are through the crossing. Verified 2026-08-03.
In plain English
You will meet the countdown beacons at roughly 240, 160 and 80 m, then the Andreaskreuz at the crossing itself.
What you are looking at
Upright red-bordered triangle containing a black steam-locomotive silhouette. (The old barrier-and-fence pictogram, Zeichen 150, no longer exists.)
Remember it like this
Never enter the crossing unless you can get completely off the far side. Queueing traffic beyond the rails means you wait before them.
Easy to confuse with — the exam exploits these
Gefahrzeichen (Warning) — get ready — it never orders you. usually a red triangle. Checked against StVO Anlage 1–3 on 2026-08-03.
Original practice questions — not the amtlicher Fragenkatalog. Every question, sign description and scenario here is written by us and covers the same StVO rules as the official Klasse B test. We are not TÜV, DEKRA or a Fahrschule, and we do not reproduce the official catalogue. Road signs themselves are amtliche Werke (StVO Anlage 1–3). Rules checked against StVO and FeV on 2026-08-03.
Fines and Punkte are indicative. The amounts shown come from published Bußgeldkatalog tables, not from statute, and are last verified 2026-08-03. The binding figure is the one on your own Bußgeldbescheid.
