Take a full German theory mock exam

The real format: 30 questions in 45 minutes, each worth 2–5 error points. You fail above 10 points — and two wrong 5-point questions fail you even at exactly 10, which most practice apps never implement. Same seed, same paper. Verified 2026-08-03.

Start a timed mock exam

30 questions, 45 minutes on a wall clock, error-point scoring with both fail conditions. Pressing start rolls a paper and puts its seed in the URL, so you can send someone the exact exam you just sat.

The rule people find out too late. 10 error points is still a pass — but two wrong 5-point questions fail you on their own, even at exactly 10. This mock enforces both.

What is on a paper

Every paper is drawn to a realistic weight mix rather than at random, because a blind shuffle produces exams that are either impossible (six 5-pointers) or trivial. A 30-question sheet always looks like this:

  • 4 × 5-point
  • 10 × 4-point
  • 11 × 3-point
  • 5 × 2-point

Worst case on this mix is 103 error points; the 10-point budget means you can afford roughly two or three mistakes, and only one of them may be a 5-pointer.

Two ways to fail, not one

Points. Add the weight of every question you get wrong. 10 is a pass; 11 is not.

Two 5-pointers. Get two of the most safety-critical questions wrong and you have failed, even though the arithmetic says 10. If a practice app has ever told you that 10 points with two 5-pointers is a pass, it was wrong, and the examiner will not be.

Before you sit it

Work the topics first — 350 questions with explanations — then come back here for the timed run. Learners who mock first and study second tend to memorise answers rather than rules, and the exam is large enough to punish that.

Common questions

How is the German theory test scored?

By error points. Each of the 30 questions carries 2, 3, 4 or 5 Fehlerpunkte according to how safety-critical it is. Add up the points for every question you get wrong: above 10 you have failed, and exactly 10 is still a pass. Unanswered counts as wrong.

Can I fail with only 10 error points?

Yes, and this is the rule most apps get wrong. Two incorrect 5-point questions fail you on their own, regardless of the total. Two 5-pointers is exactly 10 points — arithmetically a pass — but the examiner treats getting both of the most safety-critical questions wrong as not yet safe to drive.

How long does the theory exam take?

45 minutes is the standard allowance for Klasse B, and most candidates finish well inside it. The test is taken on a tablet at a TÜV or DEKRA centre, is available in several languages including English, and you find out the result immediately.

Original practice questions — not the amtlicher Fragenkatalog. Every question, sign description and scenario here is written by us and covers the same StVO rules as the official Klasse B test. We are not TÜV, DEKRA or a Fahrschule, and we do not reproduce the official catalogue. Road signs themselves are amtliche Werke (StVO Anlage 1–3). Rules checked against StVO and FeV on 2026-08-03.
